The farmhouse is located on the edge of a small hamlet overlooking sunflower fields and vines. There is a small chateau and ancient church at the heart of the village. At Verdille - approximately 3 km away - there is a boulangerie, charcuterie, small grocery store and also a bar/restaurant. At Aigre - 8km away - there is everything you might need in way of shops. There is also a market, Tourist Office, bar and restaurants.
Angoulème, Cognac and La Rochelle are all within easy reach and Futuroscope is about 1 hour away.
The area is well known for its seafood, fresh fruit and vegetables, wine, cognac and the local aperitif "Pineau".
The Charente is said to enjoy a "microclimate" providing warm weather for most of the year, rising to the nineties in August. The spring and Autumn are particularly pleasant for those who prefer a cooler temperature with plenty of sunshine.
The distance from Calais to Barbezières is approximately 450 miles. There are excellent services available on major routes, some of which are toll roads.
